Linda has over four decades of experience in Quantity Surveying and has held senior roles at consultancies in New Zealand, South Africa, and the UK.
Her skills range from elemental cost estimating and tender analysis to financial reporting, progress payments and technical advisory. She has a great deal of new build vertical construction project experience, including Kainga Ora Community Housing, Ministry of Education (MoE), Kaiapoi Library and Museum, Marshlands Primary School, and the Salvation Army Gracefields Auditorium and Community Centre â all of which were $10m building contracts.
Linda has worked in bank QS reporting roles for ANZ, ASB, China Construction Bank, Christian Savings and Southern Cross Partners, on projects such as Christchurchâs Adventure Bike Park and the Majestic Church Redevelopment and medium density housing project. She has also provided cost consulting services for the MoE on earthquake repairs, insurance claims and new projects.
Linda also provides cost and quantum input for Long Term Maintenance Plans (LTMPs) such as the 10-year LTMPs for Western Bay of Plenty District Councilâs 18 Community Halls and Department of Conservation (DOC) nationwide assets. Understanding the life cycle costs of buildings provides valuable input into decision making for capital works and facilities management.
Linda has significant experience in sustainable solutions and is one of New Zealandâs leading voices on the benefits and use of engineered timber. She has worked on several culturally significant projects during her career, including Canterburyâs Provincial Council Buildings, Regenerate Christchurch and other heritage projects. She also has a great deal of experience in Masterplan budgets, including Christchurch Councilâs master planning options for Cathedral Square and the MoEâs $25m redevelopment of Hornby High School in Christchurch.
Linda understands the construction industry, contractual terms and conditions, risks to projects and economic markets conditions that have the potential to impact on project outcomes. Robust, independent, and accountable financial reporting is at the heart of all she does.
