The brief
By the middle of Covid-19 lockdown, coordinating contractors of any kind had become a nightmare. So when commercial offices in Christchurch were gutted by fire, the loss adjustor approached Prendos to provide a one-stop service that made everything right again. Assessing the extent of the fire damage, scoping and designing the repairs, and managing the reinstatement would all be part of the process.

The solution
Due diligence during the initial reporting phase â including comprehensive review of documentation such
We worked closely with our building surveyors in a number of areas: to define the reinstatement scope, liaise with the loss adjustor during the claim settlement process, and develop a separate cost plan for client betterment items to be incorporated into the reinstatement contract.
Next, we reviewed the reinstatement cost plan during the design development stage, keeping the loss adjustor up to date and agreeing on the procurement option for the reinstatement project. Then we managed the selected tender process and presented a tender report for approval.
Once the contractor was selected, we administered the contract with the help of our project managers. Clear reporting on payment recommendations, certification of payments, variation review ensured the loss adjustor was aware of the predicted final account figure as the works progressed.

The outcome
The offices were restored to their former glory and in some ways, even approved on. This reinstatement project was completed on budget, payments were managed seamlessly and no payment claims were disputed at any stage of the project. Agreeing the final account was easy too, thanks to the clear cost control reporting established from the very beginning.
