With over 25 years’ experience and having practiced as a chartered building surveyor in three different countries, Rory brings a unique skillset and comprehensive knowledge of the industry to his role at Prendos. As Director, he manages both the company’s Quantity Surveying Department and South Island region, and enjoys the challenge of identifying and developing new services to meet market demand.

Rory is based in Christchurch, where he monitors commercial activity, workflow and staff development, and supports his multi-disciplined team to deliver a wide range of commercial property consultancy services. He is active in managing and nurturing client relationships and works closely with CEO Fiona Gavriel to bring together teams of professionals, working with them in the delivery of client services.

Originally from Ireland, Rory spent five years in London with a prominent European property consultancy. There, he acquired a broad range of commercially orientated building surveying skills, before setting up and running his own property consultancy in Ireland for nine years.

In New Zealand, Rory has established a reputation for understanding complex property issues, particularly in the aftermath of the Canterbury and Kaikoura earthquakes. He has a proven track record of successfully delivering on numerous building fabric insurance claim settlements, some for large institutions. He also works closely with legal advisors and acts as expert witness in mediations and in the High Court, recently in judicial settlement conferences. Rory is currently focused on commercial consultancy work such as Technical Due Diligence, maintenance management, condition assessment and lease reinstatement of commercial property portfolios.

Rory was previously President of the NZ Institute of Building Surveyors – a role that further enhanced his exposure to what is happening across the New Zealand property market.
